Screenings of a film chronicling the three-day celebration South River threw for its returning World War II veterans in 1946 will take place 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Nov. 12 and 1:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the South River Public Library, 55 Appleby Ave. The showings are sponsored by the South River Historical and Preservation Society in cooperation with the library.
The one-hour film, which was dedicated to the returning veterans by the South River Lions Club, depicts the Gold Star memorial service, the parade (including close-ups of the veterans) and fireworks. There also will be a list shown of all who served in the war as well as photos of some veterans in uniform.
Admission is free of charge. Registration is required.
