The presentation is the second in a series focused on the social sciences and is open to the public.

He served as a lieutenant in the 1st Infantry Division in Vietnam, retired as an Investigations Supervisor for the New Jersey Department of Labor, and is Assistant Curator of the National Guard Militia Museum on New Jersey in Sea Girt.

He is the author, co-author or editor of 20 books, two of which appear on the New Jersey State Historical Commission’s list of “101 Great New Jersey Books.” Bilby also serves as a freelance writer and historical consultant.

He served on the New Jersey Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee and was editor of several of its publications, including the award-winning New Jersey Goes to War, a book detailing 150 of the state’s Civil War era personalities. Bilby has been awarded the Jane Clayton award for contributions to Monmouth County history and has received an Award of Merit from the New Jersey Historical Commission for his contributions to the state’s military history.

Bishop George Ahr High School launched its speaker series in fall 2015, featuring leaders in the fields of robotic surgery, paleontology, physics, astronomy and engineering who shared their knowledge and insight with the school community and general public. This year’s series takes a look at social science issues and topics of interest.

The speaker series was initiated by Susan Paluskiewicz, the school’s teacher-mentor coordinator. Since seating is limited, those interested in attending upcoming speaker events should contact Paluskiewicz at 732-549-1108, ext. 608, or by email at [email protected].
