Voters in Hillsborough Township selected Thomas Kinst, Gregory Gillette and Jean Trujillo to serve on the Board of Education for the next three years.
Mr. Kinst and Mr. Gillette, two incumbents on the board, will return for their third and fourth terms, respectively. Ms. Trujillo is a newcomer and will start her first term in January.
“I am honored and humbled by the continued support and confidence of the voters of Hillsborough and Millstone,” Mr. Kinst said. “I look forward to continue working as part of the Hillsborough Board of Education for the next three years.”
In his statement, Mr. Kinst also congratulated Mr. Gillette and Ms. Trujillo for their respective wins.
According to unofficial numbers from Hillsborough Township Clerk Pamela Borek, Ms, Trujillo earned 7,346 votes, Mr. Kinst earned 6,333 votes and Mr. Gillette earned 5,399 votes.
Incumbent member Debashis “Dev” Dutta will not return to the board next year after he took in 4,371 votes.
“I would like to thank Dev Dutta for his great and meaningful work and contributions over the past three years and for the rest of this year,” Mr. Kinst said.
Following her win, Ms. Trujillo said she looked forward to her time on the board.
“I thank the community for their vote and support. I am honored to represent Hillsborough and Millstone residents on the school board,” she said. “I look forward to working with Mr. Thomas Kinst and Mr. Gregory Gillette and the other school board members when my term begins.”
Main-in ballots must still be counted, so all reported numbers are tentative.
