FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – Elena O’Sullivan, Daniel DiBlasio and Jennifer Patten have won three-year terms on the Freehold Township K-8 School District Board of Education.
DiBlasio and Patten are members of the board; O’Sullivan is a newcomer who will join the panel in January.
When the results were tallied on Nov. 8, O’Sullivan and DiBlasio emerged as clear winners of three-year terms. O’Sullivan won a seat by receiving 7,018 votes. DiBlasio retained his seat by receiving 6,556 votes.
A closer race for the third seat occurred between Patten and Nicolas Montalto. Unofficial results show Patten retained her seat on the board by receiving 5,497 votes to Montalto’s 4,924 votes.
Incumbent Staci Triandafellos, who was appointed to the board this year to complete an unexpired term and was running for her own full term, received 4,000 votes. Her term on the board will end in December.
The results of the election are unofficial until they are certified by Monmouth County.
In an online statement, O’Sullivan wrote “I would like to take this time to thank everyone in Freehold Township for your support for the school board election. Many people have taken their time to help spread the word about my educational background and the work I have done and continue to do educating both children and adults.
“I am ready to work with all members of the school board to help everyone educate our children and make them ready to become honest, trustworthy and productive citizens of our society,” O’Sullivan wrote.
DiBlasio said he intends to work with his fellow board members and added, “I look forward to working as one board to educate all our children to meet their needs. I am grateful to continue to represent the children.”
