AnneMarie Alberta, daughter of Marie and John Alberta of Sayreville, recently was accepted into the profession of veterinary medicine and honored during the White Coat Ceremony at Saint George’s University, School of Veterinary Medicine, Grenada, West Indies.
A 2008 graduate of Sayreville War Memorial High School, AnneMarie received a Bachelor’s Degree in biology/pre-veterinary sciences from William Paterson University, Wayne, in 2013.
At the age of 15 she joined the Sayreville Pet Adoption Center as a volunteer animal handler/caregiver, and when the facility closed, she was instrumental in the initial start-up of New Beginnings Animal Shelter, East Brunswick.
After her graduation from William Paterson, AnneMarie was employed at the Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital, and more recently, she was a veterinary technician at Monroe Animal Hospital. While at New Beginnings, AnneMarie held the title of vice president and shelter manager before leaving for Grenada to begin her studies at Saint George’s.
