Eugene Joseph D’Adamo, M.D., 89, died Sunday, November 27, 2016 at his home in Princeton Junction surrounded by his immediate family.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Pauline; his children Allegra, Eric and Robert; and his grandchildren Joseph, Simon, Christopher and Caroline.
Born and raised in New York City, the son of Donato and Francesca D’Adamo, Dr. D’Adamo resided and practiced in New York State for the majority of his life.
In the early 1930s, he spent four years in Italy. After graduating from Music & Art High School in 1946, he attended and graduated from Fordham University (B.S. in Pre-Med, 1950) and University College Cork School of Medicine (M.D. in Psychiatry, 1956).
He met his wife, Pauline D’Amico in 1949 and they were married in 1955.
After graduating from medical school, Dr. D’Adamo completed his internship and residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan before opening his private practice in 1961, which he maintained for more than 50 years. He was affiliated for most of his career with St. Vincent’s Hospital in Rye, New York and United Hospital in Port Chester, New York.
In addition to medicine, Dr. D’Adamo also had a passion for classical music, automobiles, and travel, and was a lifetime member of the New York Athletic Club and the American Medical Association.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am on December 3, 2016 at St. David the King Church 1 New Village Road, West Windsor. Friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be private in the Princeton Cemetery.
