WEST WINDSOR: Salary ordinance introduced that could mean more money for some township employees

WEST WINDSOR — While the Mayor and Township Council will not get a boost in their salaries, most of the other township employees will receive fatter paychecks, based on the salary ordinance introduced Monday night.
With a few exceptions, the ordinance introduced by Township Council sets out salary ranges and not actual salaries. Police officers, firefighters, the Municipal Court judge and the Mayor and Township Council have specified salaries, but the other positions do not.
The annual salary for the Mayor will remain at $17,685, and Township Council members will continue to be paid $4,941. The West Windsor Township Municipal Court judge will earn $41,741.
Under the proposed ordinance, custodians and laborers in the Department of Public Works will earn between $32,112 and $49,095 annually.
The Animal Control Officer and the lowest level of secretaries and clerks will earn between $34,539 and $51,908. Secretaries and clerks at the next level will be paid between $36,882 and $55,442. Those at the highest level will earn between $39,305 and $57,436.
Depending on the level, equipment operators in the Department of Public Works will earn between $34,539 and $61,874. There are three levels of equipment operators. The lead mechanic will be paid between $44,052 and $63,881.
The Tax Assessor, the Tax Collector and the Health Officer salary range is $65,990 to $119,493. The Township Clerk, the Chief Financial Officer and the Township Engineer will be paid between $70,947 and $128,170.
The director of Public Works’ salary will be set between $75,910 and $135,910. The Business Administrator and the Chief of Police will be paid between $105,227 and $161,239. 
