LAWRENCE — A Lawrence Township man who allegedly robbed the First Choice Bank on Whitehead Road was apprehended by police following a foot chase along the Trenton Freeway Wednesday afternoon, according to the Lawrence Township Police Department.
Paul Wolak, 24, of Glenview Drive, was charged with robbery, theft, obstructing the administration of law and hindering apprehension following the bank robbery, which was reported at 4:22 p.m., police said.
Police were notified of the bank robbery at 4:22 p.m., and that the suspect had fled on foot headed east on Whitehead Road toward the Trenton Freeway.
A description of the suspect was broadcast, and police officers saw him on Whitehead Road near the Delaware & Raritan Canal towpath. He was apprehended by police, following a brief foot chase as he ran along the Trenton Freeway toward Glenview Drive.
Mr. Wolak allegedly entered the bank, wearing a black bandana as a mask over his face, and demanded money from a teller. He did not display a weapon. The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money, and he left the bank. No one was injured, and all of the money was recovered.
Mr. Wolak was released after posting $75,000 bail.
