The Jewish Community Center of Middlesex County, 1775 Oak Tree Rd., Edison, announces a trip to “Jewish Newark” will be held Feb. 15.
The trip includes a tour of the “real, working” Manischewitz Factory, and Congregation Ahavas Sholom – the last remaining functioning synagogue in Newark and the home of the Jewish Museum of New Jersey, and to see the exhibit “The Synagogues of Newark: Where We Gathered and Prayed, Studied and Celebrated.” While at the Synagogue enjoy a kosher catered lunch from The Green Chicpea (under supervision of the VAAD of Flatbush). Afterwards there will be a guided bus tour of Jewish Newark highlights with author and tour guide Oscar Israelowitz.
The bus leaves the JCC on Oak Tree Road in Edison at 8:45 a.m. and returns approximately at 6 p.m. The cost is $85 for JCCMC members; $94 for nonmembers, and includes bus transportation, all tours, lunch, snack and gratuity.
