Public policy, development and cultural heritage leaders tapped to join Board of Trustees for state’s largest arts service organization
BURLINGTON, N.J. (December 19, 2016) — The ArtPride New Jersey Foundation – New Jersey’s largest cross-discipline arts service organization, representing hundreds of cultural organizations across the state – announces the recent election of new board members during its 30th anniversary year. Joining the ranks of its already robust Board of Trustees are Dr. Carol Cronheim, former Assistant Secretary of State of New Jersey, who joined the Board earlier this year, and David Genova of Greenwood Development and Isha Vyas of the County of Middlesex Office of Culture & Heritage, who were voted in at ArtPride’s December meeting.
“ArtPride is delighted to welcome these three members to its board,” said Timothy J. Shields, Chair of ArtPride’s Board of Trustees and Managing Director of McCarter Theatre Center. “We look forward to Carol, David and Isha’s participation in the work we do to advance, promote and advocate for the arts in our state.”
With a robust history in the fields of politics, public policy and philanthropy, Cronheim most recently acted as New Jersey’s assistant secretary of state. Her responsibilities included oversight of the cultural divisions in the Department, including the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the New Jersey Cultural Trust, the New Jersey Historical Commission, the State Museum and the Archives. In addition to being a member of ArtPride’s Board, Cronheim has served on the boards of the Friends of the State House, the CTW Excellence in Public Service Series and the Princeton Charter Club.
David Genova is the founding member of Greenwood Development, LLC, a commercial real estate development firm in Montclair, as well as a managing partner at Montclair Parking, LLC. He was instrumental in the rebirth of Montclair’s historic Wellmont Theatre, which was transformed from an abandoned movie house to a live performance venue. A lifelong New Jerseyan, Genova sits on the Alumni Board at Morristown-Beard School.
As the Head of the Division of Arts and History Programs and Services at Middlesex County Office of Culture and Heritage, Isha Vyas has designed and implemented significant projects for more than 16 years, including the History Re-Grant Program, technical assistance workshops, lectures and community outreach. A recipient of many community service awards, Vyas has served on the boards of many civic organizations, including the Association of New Jersey Cultural & Historical Agencies, the Woodbridge Public Library, the New Jersey State Historical Records and the Advocates for New Jersey History.
“The knowledge and strengths of these three outstanding arts leaders will surely help us think and act strategically as ArtPride continues to implement the varied and dynamic programs that serve the New Jersey arts community and the citizens of our state,” continued Shields.
