Blood drive will honor late teacher, coach

The family of Jessica Uveges LoNigro, a longtime Old Bridge resident, teacher and cheerleading coach who passed away in 2014 at age 33, will host a community blood drive in her memory noon-7:30 p.m. Dec. 28 at the Old Bridge Public Library, Route 516 and Cottrell Road.

New Jersey Blood Services, a division of the New York Blood Center, will sponsor the drive. The New York Blood Center will have a bloodmobile on site to supplement the library’s indoor donation spot.

Appointments may be made online at http://tinyurl.com/jessicacommunitydrive or by calling 1-800-933-2566. Walk-ins also are welcome.

To donate, individuals must be 17-76 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds; 16-year-olds must present a parental consent form to donate, and those above age 76 must present a doctor’s note. Individuals with diabetes and blood pressure controlled by medication may donate. Donors are encouraged to eat before coming and to bring identification and proof of age.
