RED BANK — Bow Tie Cinemas will hold the premiere screening of “Where Demons Dwell: The Girl in the Cornfield 2” at 10 a.m. on Jan. 7 at 36 White St.
The film, which is scheduled for widespread release Jan. 13 on Amazon Prime, was written, produced and directed by area resident Ryan Callaway, his fourth full-length movie to date.
Callaway released the first film, “The Girl in the Cornfield,” on May 13, 2016. In that film, two women and a girl face the horrors of an evil entity, known as the Woman in White. In the sequel, the girl, “Tiffany,” from the first movie is on the hunt for answers when she crosses paths with a young woman, “Adelaide,” whose family seems to be the target of the same entity. Tiffany’s goal is to prevent history from repeating itself.
“Prior to the release of the original film, I was taken aback by the response and attention it received,” Callaway said. “The original trailer was viewed over 100,000 times, and all sorts of movie websites covered it. This is not bad for a project that cost me less than $10,000 out of pocket.”
The film’s successful response and a fan asking Callaway about a potential sequel sparked his interest in doing a sequel.
“So, I started playing around with ideas and eventually wrote a screenplay that I was extremely proud of,” he said. “Thanks to having a terrific cast on hand and a little more money to work with, I’m confident this movie is an overall better and scarier installment.”
Included in the cast are area actors, such as Hiram Ortez, 44, of Brick Township and Madeline Lupi, 12, of Stockholm.
Tickets are $7. To view the trailer, visit www.youtube.com/watch?v=XX0TxTpw14I&feature=youtu.be.
