Theater group offers acting classes in Woodbridge

Catherine LaMoreaux, artistic director of Dragonfly Multicultural Arts Center, announced that the theater group will be offering six-week acting classes at Woodbridge Middle School for children, teens and adults beginning on Jan. 13.

All classes are held on Friday evenings. Kids’ Acting is for children age 7-13 and is held from 6-7 p.m. The class for teens and adults is from 7:30-9 p.m. Both classes give students activities to hone their acting skills, develop confidence and have fun. Classes will include opportunities to participate in improv scenes, theater games, scene practice and monologue preparation.

The cost for classes is $50, which covers the entire session. Woodbridge Township residents pay a reduced charge of $40 for the session. Both beginners and advanced students are welcome as the course curriculum will be adapted for student levels and interests.

Dragonfly is dedicated to multicultural arts education and diversity in casting. The artistic staff believes that everyone can find confidence, discover their voices and learn to act.

Dragonfly’s classes will be taught by LaMoreaux, a New Jersey-certified theater educator. Registration for the classes can be done online at DragonflyArtsNJ.com or through a mail order form that can be found on the website.
