Candy and Sam Caponegro will present “Early History of Movie Musicals Parts 1 and 2” at The Jewish Community Center of Middlesex County, 1775 Oak Tree Rd., Edison, at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 24 and 31.
According to some experts, singing musical show tunes leads to mental clarity. True or not, this course will explore the history of the early movie musicals. From Al Jolson’s “Jazz Singer,” to Busby Berkeley, to Fred and Ginger, to Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland, watch and discuss clips from musicals from the 20s and 30s.
Sam and Candy Caponegro have been involved with over 60 musicals in the NY/NJ area. Candy is a published author and Sam is an artist whose work has been shown at galleries in New Jersey. The have taught courses on film and Broadway musicals at Rutgers Continuing Education School.
The cost is $16 for JCCMC members; $22 for nonmembers.
