Two River Theater, 21 Bridge Ave., Red Bank, announces performances of “Hurricane Diane” by Madeleine George and directed by Leigh Silverman, will run from Jan. 14-Feb. 12 at the Marion Huber Theater.
The cast includes Mia Barron, Becca Blackwell, Nikiya Mathis, Danielle Skraastad, and Kate Wetherhead.
The production features choreography by Sonya Tayeh and an original song by The Bengsons. Choreographer Sonya Tayeh has garnered acclaim for her work in the worlds of dance and theater, including two Emmy nominations for So You Think You Can Dance (2015 and 2013).
The Indie-Folk duo The Bengsons have appeared across the country and around the world at such venues as Joe’s Pub, NYU’s Skirball Center, MASS MoCA, On the Boards in Seattle, and the Market Theater in Johannesburg, South Africa. They have had three singles featured on national television on So You Think You Can Dance.
In this wild comedy, the Greek god Dionysus takes form as Diane, a lesbian permaculture gardener from Vermont. With a mission to gather followers and restore the Earth to its natural state, where better to begin than a Monmouth County cul-de-sac and the women who live there?
