JACKSON – Thomas Colucci and Michael Walsh have begun serving three-year terms on the Jackson School District Board of Education.
The board held its annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 4 at the school district’s administration building on Don Connor Boulevard.
Business Administrator/Board Secretary Michelle Richardson administered the oath of office to Colucci and Walsh.
Colucci, who was an incumbent, and Walsh won seats on the board in the Nov. 8 election. Incumbent Sharon Dey was unsuccessful in her bid for re-election.
Colucci and Walsh are joined on the board by Barbara Fiero, John Burnetsky, Vicki Grasso, Scott Sargent and Michael Hanlon.
The board members unanimously elected Fiero as president and Sargent as vice president for 2017.
In other business, the board approved the following appointments:
- The firm of Montenegro, Thompson, Montenegro and Genz will serve as general counsel to the Board of Education
- Robert J. Pruchnik, of the firm Campbell & Pruchnik, will serve as special counsel for special education
- The firm of Schenck, Price, Smith & King will serve as special counsel for labor on an as needed basis.
