Kenneth E. Van Demark, 86, of North Brunswick, passed away peacefully on Jan. 2, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born and raised in New Brunswick before settling in North Brunswick for the past 39 years.
Kenneth was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 39 years before retiring in 1990. After his retirement, Kenneth worked at National Auto Supply.
He was a communicant of Saint Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in New Brunswick and served as an usher for many years.
Kenneth graduated from Saint Peters High School and was an accomplished pitcher in the late 1940s. He then attended Marshall University in West Virginia.
He loved sports, especially baseball, and enjoyed being a certified high school umpire, as well as a high school basketball and soccer referee.
Always smiling and with a great sense of humor, Kenny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many and will be dearly missed.
He was predeceased by his parents Earl and Mary (Brown) Van Demark and his brothers, Malcolm and Edmond.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 63 years, Patricia (Friemann) Van Demark; his loving children, Kevin and wife Sandy, Garry and wife Sherry, daughter Phyllis Gall and husband Robert, Brian and wife Donna of South Brunswick, Dennis and wife Nora, Colin and wife Laura of South Brunswick and Darrin and wife Marcie; 11 grandchildren, Jason, Garry, Kimberly, Kelly, Shannon, Connor, Scott, Rachel, Gavin, Sean and Allison; and four great-grandchildren, Ella, Lyla, Onnalee and Lanagan.
Services were provided by Gleason Funeral Home in Somerset.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
