Live Well @ The JCC – Low Vision: Signs, Symptoms, What To Do will be presented by Elsa Zavoda at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 7 at The Jewish Community Center of Middlesex County, 1775 Oak Tree Rd., Edison.
Low vision is a loss of eyesight that makes everyday tasks difficult. A person may find it difficult or impossible to accomplish activities such as reading, watching TV, driving a car or recognizing faces. When vision cannot be improved with regular eyeglasses, medicine or surgery, people with low vision need help to learn how to make the most of their remaining sight and keep their independence. Losing vision does not mean giving up your activities but it does mean finding new ways of doing them. This lecture will discuss the signs, symptoms and suggestions for improving your sight and maintaining independence and offer general recommendations to maintain healthy eyesight.
Elsa Zavoda is a licensed practicing Occupational Therapist. Ms. Zavoda has successfully established and implemented three low vision programs in New Jersey. She currently serves as the Program Director for the Low Vision Alliance of New Jersey.
