Two new learning spaces at St. Matthew School are inspiring students to become creative problem solvers. Hands-on learning takes shape in the new Discovery Lab where K-2 students research and build models pertaining to a thematic unit.
An “Under the Sea” theme challenges students to research the oceans, then design and build models of the creatures they learn about. The underwater creations are collectively displayed for an immersion experience that is captivating. Schools of colorful fish, sand sharks and jellyfish swim overhead while a coral reef provides a safe hiding place for clownfish.
Excitement generated by STREAM program for third, fourth and fifth graders is contagious, such as inventing a vehicle that transforms from driving in snow to air travel.
Both programs offer students a unique learning opportunity. Basic engineering principles are explored and tested as students bring their ideas to life.
