Monmouth Civic Chorus announces ‘Love Is in the Air’ concert

The Monmouth Civic Chorus will present the concert, “Love Is in the Air,” a celebration of love songs from the Middle Ages to the Internet age, at 4 p.m. on Feb. 26 at First Presbyterian Church (Tower Hill), 255 Harding Road, Red Bank.

Reflect on the many aspects of love through ballads, madrigals, popular songs, poems and more. Selections will include Faure’s “Cantique de Jean Racine,” the traditional Irish folk song “Danny Boy,” Brahms’ “Liebeslieder Walzer” and Debussy’s “Dieu! Qu’il la Fait Bon Regarder.”

Rounding out the music programmed by Artistic Director Dr. Ryan James Brandau will be several performances by small groups of chorus members. Over 20 members will be featured in madrigals, vocal jazz performances, show tunes and more. The ensembles will be interspersed between selections sung by the entire chorus.
