PLUMSTED – The New Egypt Elks Special Children’s Committee will present a Comedy Night fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at its lodge, 105 Lakewood Road, New Egypt.
There will be comedy performances by Craig Loydgren, Mike Keegan and Missy Grynkiewice, plus a DJ, a buffet and drinks. Tickets are $30.
Loydgren is a regular on the east coast circuit and performs at venues that include the New York Comedy Club, the Broadway Comedy Club, the Greenwich Village Comedy Club and Dangerfield’s, according to his webpage.
Keegan appears regularly at the Comic Strip Live, Dangerfield’s and the Greenwich Village Comedy Club in New York City. He was a finalist in the “Funniest Comic on the East Coast” at Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino and he has performed at the Borgata in Atlantic City, according to his website.
Grynkiewice has has performed at numerous venues including Levity Live, Helium comedy clubs, the Greenwich Village Comedy Club, Parx Casino, and more, according to her website.
Tara Isaac of the Elks Club said the Special Children’s Committee’s primary mission is to assist children who have special needs.
“This committee supports one of our core values, children who have special needs. The New Jersey Elks have a camp in northern New Jersey which handicapped children can attend for one week during the summer and the sponsoring lodge pays the expenses,” Isaac said.
Issac said money that is raised from the Comedy Night will be used to help pay for the summer camp and other events that are sponsored by the Special Children’s Committee, including a hayride, a fishing derby, a Christmas party, an egg hunt and more, she said.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the Comedy Night.
Ed Treadaway of the Elks Club said the organization raised about $5,000 last year and the money helped to send seven children to Elks Camp Moore in Passaic County. He said local lodges receive financial support from the New Jersey State Elks to send children to the camp.
Treadaway said the Special Children’s Committee assists children who have special needs and who reside in New Egypt, Allentown, North Hanover and Wrightstown.
