SOUTH RIVER – The year 2017 marks 100 years of the South River Police Department (SRPD) serving and protecting the residents of South River.
Throughout the year, the department will be celebrating its centennial anniversary through historical photos, stories, a t-shirt contest, a special 100th anniversary logo, commemorative badges and a ceremony.
In September, South River students were asked to submit designs for the commemorative shirts. After receiving hundreds of submissions, the process of selecting a winner is underway, according to a statement prepared by the SRPD. The submissions will soon be narrowed down to five finalists.
The public will then have an opportunity to select the winning design through an online vote. T-shirts featuring the winning design will be offered for sale after the winner is chosen.
On Sept. 22, the 100th anniversary celebration will culminate with a ceremony; details will be announced.
The public is encouraged to follow the SRPD social media accounts on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for more details throughout the year.
