HILLSBOROUGH: Prosecutor’s Office holds blood hound training at Sourland Mountain Preserve

For tracking purposes, there’s nothing like a hound dog to help sniff out a suspect., That’s why on Sunday, January 22, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office teamed up with the Hillsborough Township Police Department to conduct a training session for two tracking blood hounds named Joker and Aleck., For two hours, officials took the dogs on a training exercise at the Sourland Mountain Preserve with the assistance of several volunteers., Captain Christopher Penna of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, along with Captain Brian Hoey of the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and Officer Chris Engelhardt of the Hillsborough K9 unit accompanied Mike and Debbie Campbell of South Plainfield and the two canines., According to officials, Joker and Aleck are part of the Middlesex County Canine Search and Rescue Team. The dogs have assisted Middlesex County Law Enforcement authorities in over 50 investigations involving missing and endangered adults and children., “This training session is yet another great example of the relationship between the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office working together to best serve our community,” Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said.
