By Philip Sean Curran, Staff Writer
Students and other supporters of Westminster Choir College are going to have a 24-hour “music marathon” starting Tuesday morning at a local church, a publicity move in response to the possible sale of the campus and relocation of the Rider University-affiliated music school out of Princeton., Organizers have said the event is meant to “raise awareness to Save Westminster.” The music will start at 11 a.m. and go until 11 a.m. Wednesday, inside Nassau Presbyterian Church, on Nassau Street. There will be security, but people are allowed in at any point during the day or night., This comes with the future of Westminster a question mark. The campus might be sold to help Rider out financially, with the school possibly moving to Rider’s Lawrenceville campus., “Rider University’s Board of Trustees commissioned this study to determine the feasibility of a one-campus model with the goal of becoming a stronger and more robust institution” said university spokeswoman Kristine Brown in a statement Friday., “We continue to evaluate the way we operate and explore all avenues and options to ensure a sustainable future for Rider University as a whole,” she said. “To be clear, no final decisions have been made. We appreciate the passion and emotion involved. We thank everyone for their continued patience and understanding as the board works to make a fact-based decision in the coming months.”
