MANALAPAN – The Manalapan-Englishtown Community Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse will hold a free Narcan training session at Manalapan town hall at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.
The training session is a joint project of the Jersey Shore Addiction Services healthcare organization and the Barnabas Health Institute for Prevention with funding from the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services of the New Jersey Department of Human Services, according to a press release from the Manalapan Health Department.
The training session is open to anyone who is at risk of an opioid overdose or their family members and friends. All eligible participants will receive a free Narcan (naloxone) kit and a treatment voucher for 30 days of free substance abuse treatment to use or distribute to any person who needs medication-assisted treatment.
During the training session, education will be provided about how to administer Narcan to reverse a heroin/opioid overdose, according to the press release.
