CRANBURY: New PAC forms to promote tolerance, fairness and stewardship of the environment

A new political action committee called Indivisible Cranbury, which offers members a chance to voice concerns about trends away from inclusion, tolerance, fairness and stewardship for the environment, and seeks to take political action in support of these principles through legislation had its first meeting recently., Dr. Laura Zurfluh, a Cranbury resident and veterinarian, is the founder of Indivisible Cranbury. The group’s initial meeting drew 14 people, but within three days of that meeting, the group had grown to 80 people, according to Dr. Zurfluh., Dr. Zurfluh said she decided that coordinated political activity with a group of patriotic, concerned citizens was the best way to protect and promote rights, principles, and truth., “After the election I realized other people also felt sucker-punched, and I came to believe that together we could bring back the fair and compassionate America to which I’ve always felt proud to belong,” said Dr. Zurfluh. She envisions a group comprised of women and men, regardless of race, creed, gender identity, or political persuasion, who are prepared to invest time and energy in defending basic American values that have been placed under threat by the new administration., Indivisible Cranbury is following a framework laid out by former Democratic congressional staffers and posted online at IndivisibleGuide.com. The guide declares that “Donald Trump is the biggest popular vote loser in history… (and) he will attempt to use his congressional majority to reshape America in his own racist, authoritarian, and corrupt image.” Indivisible Cranbury is one of 2,520 such groups registered as of Jan. 25., At its organizational meeting the Indivisible Cranbury began coordinating activities, including a letter-writing campaign directed at the White House, participation in a candlelight vigil supporting the Affordable Care Act outside congressional offices in Freehold, and telephone campaigns targeting Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker regarding Cabinet appointments., Anyone interested in supporting Indivisible Cranbury activities should join its Facebook group (search for Indivisible Cranbury) where information and calls to action are posted daily.
