Leo P. Sotak, 89, of Simpson, Pennsylvania, died on Feb. 2, 2017 at the Gino Merli Veteran Center, Scranton, Pennsylvania. His wife, the former Regina “Jeannie” Matistic died in 2003.
Born in Orson, he was the son of the late John and Mary Biley Sotak. Leo proudly served his country during World War II as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He had been employed as a Service Staff Claims Representative for Allstate Insurance. He had resided in Milltown before moving back to Pennsylvania.
Leo was a lifelong member of the American Legion and was a Past Commander of the American Legion Joyce Kilmer Post No. 25, Milltown, as well as a Past County Commander of the American Legion Middlesex County.
He is survived by a son, Paul Jude Sotak, of Wilkes-Barre, a sister, Marian Salamas, Vandling and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and John Sotak and two sisters, Anna Rutherford and Helen Price.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Feb. 9 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, by the Rev. Seth Wasnock. Interment with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. at the Brigadier General William Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown.
