South Brunswick police investigate carjacking outside hotel

 

SOUTH BRUNSWICK – Police are investigating a carjacking that occurred around 5:35 this morning, Feb. 7,  in the parking lot of the Sonesta ES Suites on Route 1.

A guest of the hotel was reportedly sitting in his Honda Civic, warming up the vehicle, when he was allegedly approached by two men, according to information provided by the South Brunswick Police Department (SBPD). One man reportedly holding a gun knocked on the driver’s-side window and demanded the victim exit the vehicle, according to police. The suspect got into the vehicle and fled the hotel parking lot, according to reports.

Both suspects were described as wearing black ski masks and being medium build.

At 9:30 a.m., Ewing police recovered the stolen Honda in a parking lot off of Bear Tavern Road. Detectives have processed the vehicle and the investigation is ongoing.
