The postseason has arrived — and in full blast.
This week, we look at county and state tournaments that are sure to grab your viewing attention.
Local boys’ and girls’ basketball tournaments are off and running
The Shore Conference Tournament for both boys and girls kicked off Feb. 14.
The second round is slated for Feb. 16, and the higher seed in both rounds will serve as the hosts.
From there, the quarterfinals for the girls will be played Feb. 18 at Pine Belt Arena in Toms River. The games are scheduled for 11 a.m., 12:45 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.
The boys will compete in their quarterfinals Feb. 19 at Pine Belt Arena with the same game times as the girls.
The girls’ semifinals will be played Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. at Pine Belt Arena. The boys’ semifinals will be at the same times and site Feb. 21.
The Shore Conference Tournament championship is Feb. 25 at Monmouth University in West Long Branch. The girls will settle the tournament title at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m.
The Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament opened for boys and girls Feb. 11. The preliminary rounds were then staged Feb. 13 and 14.
The first round for the girls is Feb. 15, and the opening sessions for the boys is Feb. 16.
In the quarterfinals, which will be held both days at New Brunswick High School, the girls will play Feb. 18 at 12 p.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., while the boys meet Feb. 19 at the same starting times.
South Brunswick High School hosts the semifinals Feb. 21 for the girls and Feb. 22 for the boys. Games will tip off both days at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The championship games for the boys and girls are scheduled for Feb. 24 at Rutgers University’s Rutgers Athletic Center in Piscataway. The girls will play for the crown at 6 p.m., and the boys will play for the title at 8 p.m.
Tournament action hits the mats
The 32 district wrestling tournaments are scheduled to go off Feb. 17-18.
Local schools will be wrestling at the following districts and sites: District 14 at Woodbridge High School, District 18 at Red Bank Regional High School, District 19 at Old Bridge High School, District 20 at South Brunswick, District 21 at Manalapan High School, District 22 at Howell High School, District 23 at Wall High School, District 24 at Freehold Township High School and District 25 at Holy Cross High School in Delran.
Indoor track is approaching the finish line
The state championships for boys and girls in NJSIAA Group I and Group IV will be held Feb. 17 at the John Bennett Indoor Athletic Complex in Toms River starting at 4 p.m.
On Feb. 18, boys and girls will seek titles in Group II and Group III at 9 a.m., followed by the Non-Public A and Non-Public B meets at 2 p.m, which are also at the Bennett complex.
The Meet of Champions for boys will be Feb. 25 while the girls will bid for state titles Feb. 26. Both meets are at the Bennett complex.
State sectional swimming is on tap
The boys’ sectional finals meets in Group A, Group B and Group C are Feb. 17, while the girls will seek Group A, Group B and Group C sectional titles Feb. 19. Sites are to be determined.
