WEST WINDSOR: Contract approved that provides raises for firefighters, lieutenants

West Windsor Township’s career firefighters and lieutenants are in line for salary increases that average 1.8 percent over the three-year contract approved by West Windsor Township Council., The 11 firefighters and three lieutenants will receive pay hikes of 1.65 percent, retroactive to 2016, and 1.8 percent for 2017 and 1.95 percent for 2018. They belong to the West Windsor Professional Firefighters Association Local 3610 of the International Association of Fire Fighters., Firefighters who have worked for West Windsor Township for more than four years are eligible for an additional 2.5 percent pay differential if they continue to maintain up-to-date certifications for Fire Fighter I, Emergency Medical Technician-B, Uniform Fire Code inspector, confined space technician and hazmat technician licenses., An entry-level firefighter will be paid $43,307 in 2017 and 2018. For firefighters who have been employed for two years, the salary is $47,867 for those hired before 2017 and $46,622 for those hired this year., The top salary for firefighters who were hired before 2017 will be $74,566 in the third and final year of the contract, which is reached after seven years. The top salary is the same for those hired in 2017, but it takes 10 years to reach the maximum., The three fire lieutenants will earn $81,181 in 2017 and $82,764 in 2018.
