Louis Armstrong to come to life at library

The East Brunswick Human Relations Council and the East Brunswick Public Library will celebrate the life and legacy of Louis Armstrong with a presentation titled “What a Wonderful World: The Magic of Louis Armstrong” 7 p.m. Feb. 28 at the library, 2 Jean Walling Civic Center.

Ricky Riccardi, director of research collections at the Louis Armstrong House Museum, Queens, N.Y., will bring the entertainer’s final decades to life with rare footage of some of Armstrong’s vintage performances on stage and television, including renditions of tunes such as “Hello, Dolly!,” “What a Wonderful World,” and the song that is known as one of the first protest songs ever recorded, “(What Did I Do to Be So) Black and Blue.”

The program, which is free of charge and open to the public, is part of the library’s celebration of African American History Month.
