The Navesink Maritime Heritage Association will be the host to Alexis Bowman for an update on the status of Eastern Monmouth County’s watershed at 8 p.m. on Feb. 22 at Bahrs Landing Restaurant, 2 Bay Ave., Highlands.
The event is free and open to the public. Coffee and cookies will be served at 7:30 p.m.
Bowman, a New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Watershed Ambassador based out of the Freehold Division of Planning, will explain the present approach to watershed issues from a county perspective and provide a picture of the status quo and most pressing issues.
She will show how geographic information systems, which are data maps, provide visualization of natural flows and man/nature interaction with regard to watershed issues and indications of where improvements can be made.
The presentation will also discuss looking upstream and upland for downstream improvements to the Shrewsbury River.
