RED BANK — Red Bank was named “Most Romantic Town at the Jersey Shore” by listeners of 94.3, The Point, radio station.
The news was announced at the Feb. 8 Township Council meeting.
According to Red Bank Mayor Pasquale Menna, listeners of the radio station voted for towns they thought were the most romantic.
Because of its restaurants and scenic areas, Red Bank obtained the most votes.
“We even had a wedding shop just open,” he said. “Everyone should expect kisses by the end of the night,” he joked.
The meeting was held the night before the big snowstorm that covered a good part of the state, and issues surrounding that were very popular.
Councilman Edward Zipprich announced that cars should be off the streets so that plows could do their jobs. Some residents voiced concerns over not enough residential parking, which the mayor said he would work on fixing.
Councilman Michael Whalen added that the fire departments were ready for whatever came their way.
“Red Bank is prepared,” he said.
Two retired members of the Red Bank Police Department were noted for their combined six decades of service. A plaque was presented in the names of Thomas McDonough and Eliot Ramos.
McDonough served as second in command and Ramos served as lieutenant.
“We must truly thank these men for all of their years of service to our community,” Menna said.
The swift meeting adjourned around 7:15 p.m.
