Veterans committee will present model train show

MANALAPAN – The Manalapan Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee (MVAAC) will host a Lionel train show fundraiser at the Manalapan Community Center, 114 Route 33, (just past Peking Pavilion), from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 5.

Individuals of all ages are welcome to attend the model train show and all donations collected will go toward supporting local veterans. This is the second annual train show, according to a press release.

The Center for Veterans at Manalapan is the newest extension of the Lakewood Vet Center and is hosted by the MVAAC. The veterans center is open every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Manalapan Community Center.

Services offered include readjustment counseling (individual, group and couples counseling), Yoga for Veterans classes, equine therapy and help registering with the Veterans Administration for benefits, according to the press release.

In the future, the veterans center will offer educational seminars about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and presentations by speakers about topics of interest to veterans, according to the press release.

The MVAAC helps to find and share key resources that are available to veterans and their families.

To access the veterans center, an individual must be a combat veteran from any war zone and have been honorably discharged. Each veteran is asked to bring a copy of his or her DD214. For more information, visit http://www.manalapanveterans.com/
