The Schoolhouse Songwriter Series begins March 4 in Metuchen

The Metuchen Arts Council will sponsor the first show of the 2017 season of the Schoolhouse Songwriter Series at 8 p.m. on March 4 at the Old Franklin Schoolhouse, 491 Middlesex Ave., Metuchen. Attendees can park on the street or in the Borough Hall parking lot across the street from the Old Franklin Schoolhouse.

The intimate, candlelit evening of music, which includes cafe-style seating and refreshments, will be the 11th installment of the quarterly music event, which is curated and hosted by Metuchen-based singer-songwriter Sharon Goldman. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and music starts at 8 p.m. The cost is $10 per person ($5 for children under 12). BYOB is encouraged and refreshments are included.

For this winter offering, Goldman has again invited three performers to join her to share original music in round-robin style, including Long Island-based Rorie Kelly and two Philadelphia-based artists, Michael Braunfeld and Joy Ike.
