Artisan Studio now enrolling students for art camps

Artisan Studio is enjoying its 13th year in Marlboro Township’s beautiful and historic Hobart House, as its founder Marlene Bohnyak celebrates 26 years of instruction and sharing her passion for art in Marlboro.

As examples of their combined expertise and creativity, her studio space, class offerings and staff have grown over the years. Artisan is currently enrolling campers for their Spring and Summer Art Camps.

Artisan offers many different ways for students to express themselves and gain new skills. They have all the traditional classes in cartooning, drawing, painting and working in varied mediums. In addition, they offer portfolio prep classes for teens interested in pursuing art in college, creating artwork to meet specific requirements when necessary. There is fashion design and illustration class for teens and younger “fashionistas,” and sewing classes are also available when schedules permit.

In artistic activities, there are many areas in which your child may engage her imagination, motor skills, vision, awareness and personality. She may have a wonderful flair for design and pattern, yet not much patience for the needed workmanship involved for completion. Your son may love drawing animals or cartoons, but rushes through the artwork in a haphazard manner, even though he is capable of much more. You notice the similarity in their efforts to do their homework, home chores or other activities.

The good news is that the same skills used to improve their artwork do transfer elsewhere. By engaging in art-related activities and projects, parents may see the improvement carry over in their child’s schoolwork, from improved handwriting, neatness and organization, to working slower, yet more efficiently.

Owner Marlene Bohyak takes pride in the integrity and nurturing of her staff, who truly enjoy sharing their knowledge and passion as they help their students improve their artistic abilities and gain confidence. Art is stress-free and very adaptable for all ages and ability levels, a creative outlet for anyone wishing to express themselves. Artisan welcomes students of all ages and abilities.

Private hourly lessons are offered to teens and adults who prefer one-on-one lessons, or need special assistance due to dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, autism or other developmental disabilities. Artisan is a certified provider for Easter Seals and can be located in their directory. They are also available for off-site parties at recreation centers and senior living facilities.

Year-round services include parties, including for birthdays, Scouts earning their badges and adults, such as “Wine & Dezine,” which is great for women, couples or fundraisers. Sunday Art Workshops are offered October through March, scheduled for the last Sunday of each month. Seasonal art camps during summer, winter and spring breaks are for kids age 4-14. Half- or full-day options are available.

Other services include portraits of people, animals and houses, logo designs, murals and decorative painting. For more information, please call 732-294-0234 or visit their website at www.artisanstudio9.com.
