Congregation B’nai Tikvah will celebrate two of its founding members at its annual gala, “CBT’s Great Adventure,” to be held on March 18.
This year’s honorees, Gary and Barbara “Bobby” Bergman of North Brunswick, have been involved in the Jewish community in Middlesex County for more than 40 years, according to information provide by the temple.
The Bergmans moved to North Brunswick in 1979 and were members of Shari Shalom, one of the three synagogues that merged to form B’nai Tikvah in 1981. Over the years, Bobby Bergman has volunteered on the religious school and nursery school committees, also serving as vice president of School and Youth as well as president of Sisterhood.
Gary Bergman has been held several vice president positions and served as president of B’nai Tikvah from 2011-13. He remains an active member of the synagogue’s Executive Committee and Board of Trustees.
In addition to the Bergmans, David Cukor and Serena Blackin, both of East Brunswick, will receive Honorable Menschen recognition for their years of dedication.
