These days we often hear about all the bad things that happen to people in our society. Especially about the police and dedicated professionals who swear an oath to serve and protect us. These dedicated individuals often run into the danger and catastrophes that everyone else is running away from, and they put their lives on the line and at risk to protect us all 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Long Branch Police and Fire departments and Office of Emergency Management are examples of these individuals with the highest dedication and service to the community and people of the City of Long Branch.
On Jan. 23, the roof was blown off the Ocean View Towers condominium building, and windblown rain flooded all the condo units and hallways and severely damaged some cars in the parking lot. Despite the danger of falling debris and a downed electric line, residents of the building were helped in and out saving their possessions until finally the building was closed down for safety.
This is only one small example of the continual service and protection we all receive daily, and there are many more examples of these dedicated professionals who serve our community in the most outstanding ways. We should all do everything we can to support them and thank them for all their efforts to serve and protect.
