Library launching new book club with ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’

The Long Branch Free Public Library, in collaboration with interns from the Monmouth University School of Social Work, is offering a new book club for residents of Long Branch and surrounding neighborhoods at 328 Broadway.

The book club will meet in the library’s Community Meeting Room from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on March 28.

The goal of the book club is to provide citizens with a platform for constructive and open discussions regarding literature and its relevance in today’s society. Members can expand their literary knowledge, meet new people and engage in relevant societal discussions.

The first meeting will be a discussion of “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood. In honor of Women’s History Month, this book discussion will seek to engage members in riveting and thought-provoking conversations about women’s rights in today’s society.

Copies of the book are available at the library’s Circulation Desk. Drop-in participants are also welcome to join the discussion.
