The Art Society of Monmouth County has an exciting schedule for April.

The Art Society of Monmouth County (ASMC) will hold its annual Ruth Crown Memorial Art Show starting on April 3 at the Middletown Township Public Library, 55 New Monmouth Rd.

The show, named after a watercolor and oil painter who was an original member, will be on display through April 29, when the Art Society will hold an awards reception from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Three prizes in each of five categories will be presented: oil/acrylic; pastel; watercolor; mixed media and photograph.

Award-winning watercolorist, Tom Wilczewski, will be the presenter at the April 19 meeting for members and artists who wish to find out more about the Art Society.

The ASMC meets on the third Wednesday of each month at Middletown’s library.

Attendees are invited to bring an original watercolor painting of their own for him to critique. Wilzcewski will also bring his original matted framed and unframed paintings for sale. A percentage of the sale will be donated to the ASMC, which is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that aims to promote education and appreciation for visual arts in Monmouth County.

Besides monetary awards presented during each show an annual scholarship award is provided for a Brookdale Community College student enrolled in the Visual Arts Program through the Brookdale Community College Foundation.
