In honor of April being Alcohol Awareness Month, East Windsor Mayor Janice Mironov and the township council presented a proclamation to the East Windsor School District’s Hightstown High School After Prom committee., This committee has been in operation for 30 years, and according to Mayor Mironov is only possible because of the time and dedication put forth by parents and members of the committee. Not only does the committee use financial resources, but also labor and hard work, which are all contributing factors to track record of success of the After Prom program, The mayor said that the program is designed to help young students have a fun and substance free evening on their prom night. In addition to the proclamation, Mayor Mironov also presented a $1,000 donation from the Municipal Alliance Grant, as a contribution to ensuring the continued success of this program., Councilman Peter Yeager, who is the coordinator of the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the prevention of substance abuse, also offered a thank you on behalf of the alliance. He has volunteered the past few years, and said that the committee continues to work hard all the way up to the minute students start walking into the prom. He said that it is a long night, but also very rewarding., Roseann Weiss, who along with Kathleen Fox and Maureen Petillo, accepted the award, thanked the mayor and council for their support, and said that this has become “a go to location for when the prom is over, and it could not happen without the support of our local government and local businesses”, If there are any questions about the After Prom event, contact [email protected].
