It’s been a half century now of shining the light on the best that the community has to offer., The Better Beginnings Mayors’ “Shining Star” Gala will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at the East Windsor Holiday Inn. The annual event will mark the organization’s 50th anniversary as well as honor community and corporate leaders., Luz Horta, Better Beginnings’ executive director, said the Shining Star Gala “gives us the opportunity to recognize our very own ‘Shining Stars.’”, This year’s Mayor’s Shining Star Award winners are: Jacqueline K. Bodin, Lifetime Achiever; Ellen Ogintz, Individual Award; Peddie School Better Beginnings Club, Youth Award; Princeton Area Community Foundation, Organization Award; and CCL Label, Business Award., Since 1967, Better Beginnings has been serving the community with high-quality, affordable early learning and childcare services to children from low-income working families. This provides their parents with the ability to remain employed or attend a full time training/education program, thereby having the opportunity to be self-supporting and contributing members of the community.
