The Old Bridge Public Library will offer a series of workshops titled “Cancer: Thriving and Surviving” from 1:30-4 p.m. on Wednesdays, April 19-May 24, for both recent and long-term cancer survivors.
Subjects covered include techniques to deal with issues such as frustration, fatigue, pain, isolation, poor sleep and living with uncertainty; appropriate exercise for regaining and maintaining flexibility and endurance; making decisions about treatment and complementary therapies; communicating effectively with family, friends and health professionals; nutrition; setting priorities; and relationships.
Each participant will receive a copy of the companion book, “Living a Healthy Life With Chronic Conditions,” healthy snacks and a completion certificate at the last session.
Classes are highly interactive, where mutual support and success build the participants’ confidence in their ability to manage their health and maintain active and fulfilling lives. Participants must attend all sessions.
Registration is required by calling 732-721-5600, ext. 5033 or visiting www.oldbridgelibrary.org. Participants only need to register once for each program, not for each week.
The Old Bridge Public Library is located at 1 Old Bridge Plaza at the corner of Route 516 and Cottrell Road in the Municipal Center.
