The Kingston Greenways Association will hold its annual meeting and program about the Spring Activities of the Lenni Lenape and their Villages in Kingston at 7:30 p.m. on May 17 at the Kingston Firehouse, 8 Heathcote Road, Kingston section of South Brunswick.
Following a brief business meeting, Jim Wade, former archivist and researcher with the N.J. State Museum, will discuss the significance and importance of the Native American way of life during the spring season. Emphasis will be on the activities of community fish gathering, crop planting, gathering, hunting and village life.
The presentation will also examine the local villages that once existed in the Kingston region, and particular names of the Lenape people who lived in the surrounding area. The program will include a short slide presentation and question and answer session. Actual New Jersey native stone artifacts will be on display.
The meeting is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
