Christ Episcopal Church in New Brunswick is celebrating the addition of the thousandth item to its 230-year old choral library “Heritage” at 4 p.m. on June 11 at the church, 5 Paterson St., New Brunswick.
The program will feature current and former members of the Christ Church Parish Choir, led by former choirmasters Clifford Hill and Mark Trautman, as well as by current director of music, John Sheridan. Highlighted will be choral works by Herbert Howells, Ned Rorem, Thomas Morley, Herbert Sumsion, Moses Hogan and others, including music by former choirmaster George Wilmot, who founded Christ Church’s former choir of men and boys in the late 19th century.
The concert will be followed by a festive reception including a display of archival photos and memorabilia from Christ Church’s rich musical past.
