MILLSTONE – The new superintendent of the Millstone Township K-8 School District will be one of the district’s current administrators.
Christopher Huss, principal of the Millstone Township Middle School, has been named the district’s next superintendent of schools.
Huss will succeed Scott Feder, who is leaving the district by the end of June to become the superintendent of schools in the South Brunswick School District in Middlesex County.
The announcement of Huss’ selection and appointment was made at the May 22 Board of Education meeting. Families in Millstone were notified of Huss’ new position in a letter dated May 24 from board President Sal Casale.
Huss will become superintendent on July 1, according to the letter.
Huss was named principal of the middle school in 2014. Prior to joining Millstone, he worked in the Warren Township K-8 School District for 14 years. He worked as a teacher at the Warren Middle School and Central School, as dean of students at the Warren Middle School and as principal of the Woodland School, a K-5 elementary school.
Feder introduced Huss at a 2014 Millstone board meeting and said he was impressed by him and his background in education, as previously reported.
“Those who know him well flat-out love this man,” Feder said in 2014. “Everything he shared during the interview process was well confirmed through extensive checks.”
Three years later, Feder maintained his praise of Huss.
“The board could not have made a better selection,” Feder said. “He is bright, sincere and cares greatly about Millstone. The district is in great hands with Dr. Huss. I wish him and the district the best of times.”
According to Casale’s letter, Huss received a Master’s in Education Administration from St. Peter’s University, Jersey City, and a Doctorate in Education Administration from Seton Hall University, South Orange. The new superintendent resides in Red Bank.
“Chris is focused on the well-being of children and providing progressive, engaging and motivating learning environments,” Casale wrote. “He is looking forward to sustaining the current successes in the Millstone district while continually identifying new and innovative ways to challenge and encourage Millstone’s students.”
Huss said he is looking forward to his new position in the district.
“It has always been a career goal of mine to become a superintendent, but I could not be any happier than now as I get to be Millstone’s superintendent,” he said.
“I have been thoroughly impressed by this community’s support and involvement in the schools since the day I began working here as a principal three years ago.
“I continue to be thankful for the board’s trust in me and am proud to play an important role in the students’ and their families’ lives,” Huss said.
According to Casale, the next principal of the middle school will come to the board as a recommendation from Huss once he becomes superintendent.
