Local businesses and organizations will now have sponsorship opportunities for this year’s Aberdeen Day.
Township officials announced on May 23 that local businesses and organizations can now sponsor some of the participants and activities that will commence during the sixth annual Aberdeen Day that is scheduled to be held on Sept. 23.
According to a press release , the event’s popularity and growth has lead to an increase in participants while this year’s Aberdeen Day will feature the Township of Aberdeen Carnival that will run from the evening of Sept. 22 through Sept. 24 at Guisti Field.
The day starts off with a 5K walk and run on the morning of Sept. 23 that ends with a traditional celebration at Matawan Regional High School, according to the release. Local businesses will sponsor events at shopping centers and other locations on Routes 34 and 35, according to the release. The day will conclude with the Family Fishing Contest at Cliffwood Beach along with the carnival, according to the release.
Aberdeen Recreation Director Jim Colabelli felt that the event will give multiple opportunities for local businesses to get involved.
“With multiple levels of sponsorship and participation programs ranging in price from $50 to $1,000, opportunities exist for businesses of all sizes and budgets at a variety of venues,” Colabelli said. ““Sponsorship of Aberdeen Day offers a variety of opportunities for businesses and charitable groups to introduce themselves to the community.”
Officials also announced that the $50 fee that used to be charged to businesses that wanted to set up a table outside of its location has been eliminated this year.
The Economic Business Council Chairman, Carmine Visone, believed that the move will help and encourage even more businesses to participate.
“We hope that eliminating the fee will encourage additional businesses to take part in the shopping center events around town,” Visone said.
