Sherry Valan, 85, of Kendall Park, NJ died Friday, June 16, 2017 at RWJ University Hospital of New Brunswick.
She was born August 1, 1931 and raised in The Bronx, NY, resided in New York prior to moving to New Jersey in 1972. She lived in East Windsor for 13 years, relocating to Edison for 18 years before settling in Kendall Park for the last 14 years.
A trailblazer for women in the advertising industry in the late 60’s, Sherry worked for 30 years at Benton & Bowles and through the merger forming D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles (DMB&B). There, she worked her way up to a department head, and retired in 1999 as Senior Vice
President, Director of Advertising Standards, Clearances, and Business Affairs. After retiring, she embarked on her next adventure as Grandma. Sherry was a member of B’nai Tikvah of North Brunswick, NJ for 16 years and volunteered in the office for 10 of those years.
Daughter of the late George and Toni (Gluckman)
Resnick, wife of 30 years to the late Harold Valan, and mother of the late Donna A. Wright. Sherry is survived by her son Charles L. Valan and two granddaughters Daria and Brooke Valan.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 10am at the Star of David Memorial Chapel of South Brunswick, 616 Ridge Road at New Road Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852. Burial will follow in Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.
