The East Brunswick Library will hold its first “Reading To Action” program for teens and adults, combining a book discussion group with a related community service project.
Taking a cue from the summer reading theme “Build A Better World,” the project is focusing on the environment.
The library will be hosting a book discussion at 7 p.m. on July 26 in the library building, 2 Civic Center Dr., about “Unstoppable: Harnessing Science To Change The World” by science educator and television host Bill Nye. “Unstoppable” explains that the environmental issues of today are not as insurmountable as they seem and that society can work together to build a healthier, cleaner and smarter world.
For the second part of this program, the library will lead a park cleanup from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., July 29, at Heavenly Farms Park, 440 Dunhams Corner Road, East Brunswick. Following the cleanup, volunteers can play volleyball at the park.
The “Reading To Action” program is co-sponsored by the Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission.
