WOODBRIDGE — Two more suspects have been charged with fatally shooting one man and critically injuring another man at the Loop Inn Motel.
Chelsey Mendoza, 20, of the Bronx, has been charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree, one count of hindering her own apprehension in the second degree and one count of hindering the apprehension of another in the second degree.
She is currently in custody in New York, according to a joint statement released by Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Director Robert Hubner of the Woodbridge Police Department on July 14.
Suspect Cynthia Rivera also surrendered to Woodbridge Police on July 14, according to officials.
Another suspect in the case, Martin Martinez, Jr., 20, of the Bronx, turned himself in at 10:30 a.m. July 7 to the Woodbridge Police Department accompanied by his attorney, officials said.
Martinez is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder in the 1st degree.
An investigation has determined that Martinez and Rivera were allegedly involved in the incident at the motel, located on Rodgers Street in the Avenel section of Woodbridge, on June 21, where two victims were found around 4:53 a.m. Andrew Torres, 21, of the Bronx, was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:36 a.m. The second victim, a 24-year-old man, also from the Bronx, was critically injured and was taken to University Hospital in Newark, according to officials.
